Talk about Fides Inversa firing a shot across the fucking bow of black metal in 2020! If you took Deathspell Omega’s more mildly atonal melodies and combined them with Funeral Mist’s compositional sensibilities and intensity, you might get Historia Nocturna. I do not think that I have heard something this kinetic since Forteresse’s Thèmes Pour La Rébellion. I just hit a new bench press PR listening to this glorious album. This reinvents nothing, but it is perfect at what it does!
Favorite track: Transcendental Lawlessness.
